Adjacent Education & Consulting

If we’re not going back
Kaitlin Curtice
and they’re not moving
forward then we will
stretch the bubble of time
in both directions until
it bursts, and then we
will meet in that field
that Rumi talks about,
lay down in it, and try
to remember what it
always meant to be kin.
As one part of a broader movement strategy, Adjacent specializes in supporting white and white-assimilated leaders and white-led and/or white-dominant communities, to understand and divest from systems rooted in white supremacy, to heal, and to co-create alternative social futures. Often, this means partnering with individuals and organizations in the midst of transitions, where a shift in the status quo is emerging or looming on the horizon, and fear of change may be causing constriction, entrenchment, and tension. Together, we practice loving accountability, prioritizing relationship, reciprocity, and repair.
What We Do:
- Adjacent offers individual, organizational, and community education and consulting, in-person and online. Through one-on-one coaching, and group consulting, we
- Prepare, train and support white and white-assimilated folks for de-assimilation and divestment from whiteness, rooted in each of our unique intersecting social positions
- Support folks to reckon with historical and current systems and conditioning that negatively impact the people, places, and movements we care about
- Center and practice solidarity and loving accountability
- Aspire to co-create cultures, systems, and practices that elicit the futures we know are possible.
- Adjacent partners and collaborates cross-culturally to build networks of relationships and move money and power as tools for healing. We convene spaces to learn, grow, question, and dream emergent futures together.

As a project initiated by Darcy Ottey & Shay Sloan Clarke, two white American women with decades of non-profit leadership experience, we consult, educate, and promote loving accountability and cultural transformation among our white, white passing and white-assimilated kin; we collaborate to convene multi-racial spaces for emergent futures.
